When an iPhone MOV meets a Windows inbox
Every iPhone clip lands in the camera roll as a .mov, and that extension is where sharing friction starts. Clients on Windows double-click it and get a codec error, learning platforms and CMS upload fields reject anything that is not .mp4, and PowerPoint is far happier embedding an MP4 than a MOV. The video inside is usually fine; only the packaging is Apple-flavored. Repackaging camera-roll footage as MP4 is the single conversion that removes most of these complaints at once.
"High Efficiency" or "Most Compatible": check the iPhone setting
Under Settings, Camera, Formats, an iPhone records either HEVC ("High Efficiency", the default since iOS 11 and mandatory for 4K at 60fps) or H.264 ("Most Compatible"). Both codecs fit inside MP4, so either way this conversion is a remux: the video stream is copied over untouched, in seconds, with no quality change.
The codec still matters for playback. An H.264 MP4 plays on practically anything, while an HEVC MP4 needs a decoder that older Windows PCs and budget laptops often lack. If your audience skews that way, switch the iPhone to "Most Compatible" before recording the next batch.
What to expect from the resulting MP4
Because the streams are copied rather than re-encoded, the MP4 comes out at essentially the same size as the MOV, give or take container overhead. Slow-motion and standard clips convert alike, and the file is immediately usable in PowerPoint, LMS uploads, and shared drives that choke on MOV.

Lossless remux vs re-encoding
MOV and MP4 are containers — what matters is the video codec inside. When the codec already fits MP4, this tool just repackages it (a "remux"): instant and completely lossless. Only when the codec isn't compatible — most often anything involving WebM — does it re-encode the video locally, which takes longer and is where the quality preset applies.
