Convert HEIC (iPhone Photos) to WebP

Image tools

Turn iPhone HEIC/HEIF photos into WebP. Drop a whole camera roll, convert them in one batch, and download a ZIP — all at the original resolution.

What this HEIC to WebP converter does

This free tool converts Apple HEIC/HEIF photos to WebP. Drop one file or a whole camera roll, convert them in a single batch, and download a ZIP — all at the original resolution.

From camera roll to web page without the JPG detour

Browsers do not render HEIC, so iPhone photos need a new format before they can appear on a site. The reflex is JPG, but when the destination is a page you publish (a blog post, a product page, a portfolio), that reflex costs bytes: a JPG runs about double the HEIC's size. WebP is the better-matched target because its efficiency sits in the same class as HEIC's; the converted file usually stays in the original's size ballpark, sometimes under it, and every current browser displays it.

That turns this route into a one-step publish pipeline: shoot on the phone, convert, upload to the CMS, with no oversized intermediate JPG cluttering the media library.

Where JPG still beats WebP for iPhone photos

WebP solves web delivery, nothing more. Photos going into email, print orders, client handoffs of unknown destination, or desktop and business tools outside the browser are better served by JPG, which nothing rejects. A practical split: photos you publish on pages you control go HEIC to WebP; photos you send to other people or systems go HEIC to JPG. For the WebP path, quality 80 to 85 covers typical content images, with higher values reserved for large hero shots.

Why won't my HEIC file open?

HEIC (HEIF) is the format iPhones save photos in by default — higher quality at a smaller size than JPEG. The catch: Windows, Android, and many websites and apps don't support it natively, so the file 'won't open' or 'can't be uploaded'. Converting to JPG (universal), PNG (lossless), or WebP (small + web-friendly) fixes that instantly.

Which format should I pick?

FormatLosslessBest for
JPGNoSharing, email, upload — smallest, works everywhere
PNGYesEditing, transparency, no quality loss
WebPNoWeb pages — small files, good quality
