Getting a WebP into chats, marketplaces, and print orders
WebP works fine inside a browser tab, then hits walls everywhere else: messaging apps that reject it, marketplace listing forms with strict format allowlists, photo kiosks and print services that only take JPG. Converting to JPG removes the question entirely, because JPG is accepted by effectively every service, device, and form field in existence.
Compared with the PNG route, JPG keeps the output close to the original's size instead of multiplying it, which matters when you are attaching several photos to a listing or a support ticket.
A second lossy pass: keeping the JPG indistinguishable
Most WebP files found in the wild are lossy, and JPG is lossy too, so this conversion re-encodes already-compressed pixels. One extra generation at a high quality setting is visually harmless; set the slider to 85 or 90 and the result is indistinguishable in chats, listings, and standard prints. What degrades images is repetition: converting the JPG back and forth or re-saving it through multiple tools. Always start again from the original WebP when you need a different output, and expect the JPG to come out somewhat larger than its source, since WebP packs the same picture into fewer bytes.
