Preview ChatGPT ads

Ad tools

See how your sponsored card reads inside a ChatGPT-style conversation, in light or dark, on mobile or desktop, then export the frame as a PNG.

Preview a ChatGPT ad by filling in the five parts of a sponsored placement, advertiser name, favicon, title, copy, and image asset, then download the frame as a PNG. The ad renders where sponsored placements sit in a conversation: directly under the tail of an assistant answer, below the action row and the sources line.

How to preview a ChatGPT ad

  1. Enter the advertiser name and upload the favicon (the advertiser logo). Without a logo the mock shows a letter badge.
  2. Write the title and the copy. The counters next to each field show how close you are to the 50 and 100 character caps.
  3. Upload the image asset, the square creative that sits on the right of the card.
  4. Switch the theme between light and dark, and the device between mobile and desktop, to see how much of the copy survives in each.
  5. Press Download PNG to save the frame at high resolution for a deck or a review thread.

The conversation text above the ad is fixed placeholder copy on purpose. The point of the preview is the sponsored block underneath it, so the answer stays neutral and never competes with your creative.

What goes into a ChatGPT ad?

FieldLimitAim forNotes
Advertiser nameFits the rowShort brand nameLong names truncate before the "Sponsored" label
FaviconSquare imageLogo mark, not a wordmarkRendered as a small circle, so fine detail disappears
Title50 charactersAbout 16The first line users read; the card clamps it at two lines
Copy100 charactersAbout 32One supporting line; clamped at two lines on a phone
Image assetSquare imageThe product, not your logoCropped to a square thumbnail beside the text; the card drops it when you leave it empty

Example input and output

Input: advertiser "Heirloom Groceries", title "Need dinner fast?", copy "Fresh meal kits, delivered for less.", plus a square product photo.

Output: a mobile ChatGPT frame showing the answer tail, the action icons, then a sponsored block with the favicon badge, "Heirloom Groceries · Sponsored", and a gray card holding the title, the copy, and the creative on the right. Downloaded as chatgpt-ad-mobile-light.png.

Tips for ads that read well in ChatGPT

  • Treat the caps as a ceiling, not a target. A 50 character title technically fits the field but wraps to two lines on a phone, which pushes the copy down and weakens the card.
  • Write the copy like an answer, not a slogan. The ad sits directly under an assistant reply, and copy that continues the user's task reads less like an interruption.
  • Do not use your logo as the image asset. The favicon already carries the brand; the creative should show the product, otherwise the card repeats itself.
  • Use a square product shot with room around the subject. The thumbnail is small and cropped to a square, so a tightly framed product loses its edges.
  • Check dark mode. Logos with a white background and thin light-gray text are the two things that break first when the theme flips.

Notes

This is an independent mock for layout checking, not an official OpenAI surface, and it does not submit anything to an ad platform. Sponsored placements in ChatGPT are still changing, so treat the frame as a guide to hierarchy and truncation rather than a certified spec sheet.

For Google Search, responsive display, and Meta feed mockups, use Ad preview. To validate headline and description lengths against Google's responsive search ad limits, use the RSA character limit checker.
